Active; down and out?
As you might have heard last week Active filled for Chapter 11, which means they can’t pay their bills…. Rumors are now floating around that Nike plans to ‘buy’ Active. It’s of course not really ‘buying’ since they supposely still need to be paid a shitload of money (by Active). I hope some of the smaller brands are not in the same position as Nike. Nike can handle it easily, the can just sell some more shoes to tennis, football and people right?
The now 21 (before 35 or so) SoCal chain stores have been pretty plain and boring, but they sold a shitload of skateboard products over the years from numerous companies, so a lot of pro’s and companies where cuddling with them. Something’s gotta pay the bills huh? Now that the bubble has popped it will be interesting to see what other deals will keep the pro skaters paid…. Car sponsor, energy drinks, rap careers?
But if Active goes down we have to miss out on censorship? That would suck! And here is a great example why:
Flyer 1, for the Skate Mental in-store premiere, as seen on the Active website recently….

Flyer 2, for the Skate Mental in-store premiere, as seen on the Skate Mental website…. (our pick for sure!)

Whaaat! Did someone just say FUCK? That is REALLY bad!
Don’t you just love how raw and pure real skateboarding is….
